Connect with The Faculty of Graduate Studies:
Carmen and Robin will be available on the listed dates to help students navigate the application and admission process to their desired graduate program. They will also be able to provide assistance with finding/approaching a potential supervisor and explore the type of graduate degree (thesis vs course-based) that works best for you! There is also an opportunity for existing graduate students to seek support face-to-face for any questions that you might have!

Join us for an Indigenous student only event, intended to gather stories from Indigenous graduate (or future graduate) students about their involvement with community research, Indigenous methodologies/methods/theories, and their academic journeys (ethics applications, award applications, committees, etc.).
The purpose of this gathering is to obtain a better understanding for what supports are still required for Indigenous graduate students engaging with Indigenous community research to ensure relationships between students, faculties, ethics committees, and communities are supported, valued, and understood.
The experiences shared at this gathering will help to identify specific areas of support that need to be fostered to ensure the retention and completion of Indigenous researchers and facilitators in post-secondary education. After this gathering, we are planning to open the circle to all graduate students and potentially faculty at a later event. We hope that this gathering will assist the University of Calgary to better understand the often hidden obstacles endured by Indigenous researchers in succeeding in graduate studies.
